About

I found my father's old camera bag in his closet one day. In it was a Minolta film camera, a 50mm lens, and a telephoto lens as well as photographs he took when he used it. I started photographing a lot of objects, anything really, and wasted a lot of film but I was having fun. I wouldn't call it a job but my first assignment with this camera was taking photographs of my little brother during his youth football league games. I was hooked after that.

A couple of years went by and that old Minolta camera broke; however, my parents were gracious and bought me my first DSLR. I loved that camera and photographed without abandon. I made the decision to pursue a career in photography and earned a degree in it as well. That degree paved the way to an amazing job at Indiana State University as their photo-editor for their yearbook, The Sycamore.

It wasn't long after that I began experimenting with video and film. I had found a new passion. I began pursuing this new found passion and was employed by a video team at Indiana State University called Syc Creations. I helped with ideas for commercials, informative videos, and so on. From there I was able to do a series of short videos for the Martinsville Chamber of Commerce about their local small businesses.

My name is Jon Garcia and I am a photographer and videographer.
